Captionwale plans explained: Free, Shuru, Josh and Superstar
By Captionwale · 6 November 2026
What each of the four plans gives you in minutes, clip length, templates, tools and export quality, how monthly renewal works, and how to choose the right one.
How the plans differ
Every plan uses the same editor and the same word-timed captioning. What changes as you move up is how much you can transcribe in a month, how long a single clip may be, which templates you can export, which editing tools you get, the highest export resolution, and whether the Captionwale badge appears on the video. Every plan, Free included, offers the same spoken languages and the same choice of native script, Roman letters or English translation.
The paid plans are all monthly. Each step up costs more in total but less for each minute of transcription: roughly ₹5.82 a minute on Shuru, ₹4.33 on Josh and ₹3.33 on Superstar. Moving up a plan is never the dearer way to transcribe.
Plan by plan
Here is what each one includes today:
- Free, ₹0: 2 minutes of transcription a month, clips of up to 1 minute, 10 popular templates, and exports up to 1080p that carry the Captionwale badge.
- Shuru, ₹349 a month: 60 minutes, clips of up to 5 minutes, the classic and language templates in full, Text for titles and hooks, no badge, exports up to 1080p, SRT and VTT files, and unlimited fonts.
- Josh, ₹649 a month and the most popular: 150 minutes and all of Shuru, plus the full editor with elements, infographics, media, audio, sounds, GIFs and colour adjustment, all 65 Trending CFX templates, the 6 festival templates, and exports up to 2K.
- Superstar, ₹999 a month: everything in Josh with 300 minutes, twice as many, at the lowest price per minute.
Minutes and clip length
Transcription minutes are measured by the length of the audio you transcribe. Correcting captions, trying templates and exporting the same project again use none at all. The editor's top bar shows how much transcription time you have left this month, so you can see where you stand before uploading.
The clip limit is a separate thing. It caps a single upload: no more than 5 minutes on any paid plan, or 1 minute on Free. So even with plenty of minutes left, a longer video has to be cut into parts. If a clip is longer than the minutes you have remaining, the editor says so before it transcribes rather than after a wasted wait.
Paying, renewing and stopping
Payment goes through Razorpay, by UPI, card or netbanking, and everything is charged in rupees. A plan renews each month through a bank mandate: your bank asks you to approve it once, and then gives you at least 24 hours' notice of every charge. You can stop renewal from your account page whenever you want. The plan keeps running until the end of the month you have paid for, and only the next payment is called off.
If you would rather not set up a mandate at all, untick auto-renew at checkout. You then pay for a single month, once, and the plan simply ends with that month. Clean Export, the one-time badge removal for Free accounts at ₹79, never renews either.
Choosing between them
Start from what you post, not from the price tag. Plans run a month at a time, so a choice that turns out wrong costs you one month at most:
- Trying Captionwale out, or posting the odd video: Free, with Clean Export when one needs to go out without the badge.
- Regular Reels and Shorts with classic or language templates: Shuru. 60 minutes is room for dozens of one-minute videos a month.
- Animated Trending CFX looks, festival posts, the full editor or 2K exports: Josh.
- Posting every day, or several clips a day: Superstar, where each minute costs least.
- The pricing page has the same plans laid out in a table to compare.
Questions
Is there a yearly plan?
No. All three paid plans are monthly, and each one renews month by month unless you stop it or untick auto-renew when you pay.
Do I need a card to use Free?
No. Free needs no payment details at all. UPI, a card or netbanking only come in when you buy a plan or Clean Export.
What happens when a paid plan ends?
The account returns to Free. From then on, exports carry the badge again, and the Free limits on templates, resolution and clip length apply.
Where can I see how many minutes I have left?
In the bar along the top of the editor, which shows the transcription time remaining for the current month.
