Translate to English
Turn Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and seven other languages into English subtitles.
Some videos have to travel beyond their own language. Think of a Tamil recipe reel with a following in Delhi, a client receiving an explainer in Marathi, or a Hindi podcast clip meant for all of India. Captions in the speaker's script do nothing for those viewers. English captions do.
Translation here is a separate transcription, not something layered on top of a finished one. A speech-translation model hears the clip in its original language and writes English directly. That draft lands in the normal editor, where any word can be changed.
What you get
Why creators use Captionwale for this
Ten languages go in, English comes out
Any of Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu can be turned into English. Clips in Urdu or English are written down in the language they are spoken in.
Mixed speech is not chopped up
A clip that jumps from Tamil to English and back, or between Hindi and English, reaches the model as one flow of speech, not as pieces cut at each switch.
Timings you can review and drag
A translation comes back with times per phrase rather than per word. Captionwale works out the likely spot for each English word and lines the edges up with nearby pauses. Because English builds a sentence in its own order, some words may land early or late; drag them into place.
How it works
From upload to export
STEP 01
Upload your clip
MP4 or MOV. Say which language is spoken, or let the model figure it out.
STEP 02
Select English translation
Before you transcribe, pick English translation rather than native script or romanised text.
STEP 03
Read it carefully
Correct names and terms, and check the things translation usually loses: humour, idioms, and who is addressing whom.
STEP 04
Get the file
Render an MP4 with the English text burned in. A paid plan also gives you SRT or VTT.
Questions
Asked before trying it
Which languages can become English subtitles?
Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. Urdu is only ever written in Urdu script, and English speech simply stays English.
Can one video have both original-language and English subtitles?
Yes. Run two transcriptions: one in the original script or romanised, the other as an English translation. Both use minutes, and each gives a separate subtitle file, so any platform that takes more than one track can offer both.
How good is the translation?
Treat it as a first draft. The overall meaning usually survives. Humour, idioms, slang and proper names are the weak spots. Edit any word you like; the exported video and subtitle files pick up your changes.
