Guides

Editorial policy

The way Captionwale writes, checks and corrects its guides and language notes.

Last updated: November 2026

01Authorship

  • Captionwale publishes the guides in its own name; no individual byline appears on them. The About page explains who runs Captionwale, and Captionwale answers for everything the guides contain.
  • The notes on every language's template page are in Captionwale's own voice, and they explain how that script works in the editor.

02How each guide is produced

  • Our topics come out of the work of building Captionwale: problems the editor has needed to solve, and the choices creators have to make when captioning a video.
  • Writing tools, AI among them, may be used to help prepare a draft. A guide is listed on the site only after the draft has been edited and every statement about the editor has been verified against how the editor actually behaves.
  • Each guide reflects the facts at the time it is written. If the product or a platform changes, we update the guide, and it shows the date of that update.

03Editorial independence

  • The people who build Captionwale also write the guides, and wherever a guide describes Captionwale as the tool, it says so.
  • No platform, font maker or software company pays to be mentioned, and none of them sees a guide before it goes live.
  • Ads may appear on the public pages of this site, but advertisers have no influence over the topics the guides cover or what they recommend.

04Reporting a mistake

  • If you spot an error in a guide, write to support@captionwale.com with the page's address and the change needed. When we confirm a mistake, we correct it and change the guide's updated date.
